Goûter (v.): to taste, (n.) a light meal in the afternoon
Goûter (pronounced "goo-tay") is an institution in France; almost religiously eaten at 4pm, almost exclusively by children as they come out of school, and consisting solely of sweet treats. Vegetables are not allowed! It's equivalent would be England's tea-time or Sweden's Fika.
